Richard “Rich” E. Luft, Jr. age 59 of Ashville passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus surrounded by his family. He was born in Columbus on August 31, 1962 to Julia E. (Kaiser) Alwood and Richard E. Luft, Sr., who survive. Rich graduated from Licking Heights in 1981 and attended the University of Cincinnati. He served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Air Force.
Rich was the owner of Rich’s Greenscape with his family and more recently had been helping his wife Dona at her business Clip or Tan in Ashville. In high school he earned the title of Runner-Up and State Champion in his wrestling career and was an avid golfer. He was a member of Rick Brown Post VFW, South Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Walter Ishmael, brother-in-law Nevin Ishmael, best friends, Keith Beavers, Todd Quickle, and Greg Battle.
Survived by his wife of 30 years, Dona S. (Ishmael) Luft; children, Tyler (Elizabeth) Luft, Travis Luft, and Taylor (Matt) Hoefer; grandson Braxton; his mother Julia; father Richard Sr.; sisters, Terry (Rod) Spurlock and Angela Manning; brother Mark Manning; mother-in-law Mary (Brian) Holdren; brother-in-law Diamond (Lisa Bendoff) Ishmael; sister-in-law, Lisa (John) Bianga; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb.27th, 2022 from 2:00p.m. until the time of Service at 6:00p.m. at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville.
