On December 10, Ross County Republican Party Chairman and County Commissioner-elect David Glass announced his upcoming resignation as party leader following his recent election to the Ross County Board of Commissioners. Glass, who has served as Chairman since 2021, will step down from the role effective January 14, 2025, to focus on his new responsibilities as Commissioner.

Glass, one of Ohio’s youngest political party leaders, assumed the Chairmanship at just 26 years old. During his tenure, he guided the party through significant growth and success. Under his leadership, the Republican Executive Committee introduced new procedures and set strategic priorities, including fostering unity through collaboration with like-minded organizations such as the Republican Women of Ross County. Other initiatives focused on increasing voter engagement across all age groups, bolstering fundraising efforts, and recruiting strong candidates.

These efforts yielded tangible results at the ballot box, highlighted by the Republican Party securing consecutive majorities on Chillicothe City Council in 2021 and 2023 and achieving near-complete Republican representation in countywide elected offices.

Reflecting on his tenure, Glass stated:
“While I will genuinely miss serving as Chairman, I know I must make room to deliver my best to the people of Ross County as Commissioner. I am immensely grateful to the Republican Party for electing me to serve as their Chairman these past years and for the hard work of many leaders and volunteers that contributed to our shared success.”

Glass, a father of four, cited his dedication to his family and the demands of his new role as key reasons for stepping down. Additionally, he will resign from his position as a member of the Ohio Republican Party State Central Committee, as eligibility rules restrict elected officials from serving in this capacity.

Despite his resignation, Glass remains optimistic about the party’s future.
“I have no doubt the Ross County Republican Party will continue to thrive, as it has in years past. I plan to stay involved and contribute in new ways. Ross County is red, our voters share conservative values, and I look forward to supporting this organization for many years to come.”

Glass’s resignation will take effect following his final meeting as Chairman on January 14, 2025, during which the party will elect a new leader to complete his term, which runs through 2026. His term as Ross County Commissioner will commence on January 2, 2025.
