Ross County Grand Jury, March 1st: Car Stolen From Hotel while Being Warmed Up

Chillicothe — The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 20 of their cases Friday, March 1st, with eight open for release to the public. From testimony in the the grand jury in one of the cases, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:

On January 14th, Chillicothe Police officers were dispatched to 1135 East Main Street, “America’s Best Value” hotel, in reference to theft of a motor vehicle.

The victim told them that she had started her car to warm it up. After 10 to 15 minutes she went back out and found it missing.

The hotel clerk showed security video to officers that showed a black man looking around close to the car, getting in, then leaving in it.

Officers asked around at nearby businesses with an image from the video, and at the Pilot gas station someone identified the suspect as 41-year-old Tre V. Beverly of 91 South Walnut Street. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was later picked up.

Whether the victim’s car was recovered or not is unclear.

For indictments on fourth degree felony grand theft olf a motor vehicle, Harris could get up to a year and a half and $5,000 in fines.
