Ross County Grand Jury, March 1st: Don’t Punch Your Mom in the Face

Chillicothe — The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 20 of their cases Friday, March 1st, with eight open for release to the public. From testimony in the the grand jury in one of the cases, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:

On February 1st, a police officer was dispatched to an address on Jefferson Avenue in reference to a domestic dispute.

The officer noticed the victim had a busted lip bleeding heavily, with a large amount of blood coming from around her mouth.

She said she was sitting in her vehicle when her son, 21-year-old Jermain A. Abbington of London, Ohio, came up to the car.

She opened her door to find out what he wanted when he began punching her several times. He punched her in the face, ear, and knocked a tooth loose.

He then broke the window of another vehicle on the property as he fled the scene. It is unclear if drugs were involved.

She went to Adena Regional Medial Center and was diagnosed with a closed fracture of her nasal bone – i.e., a broken nose.

For indictments on second degree felonious assault and second degree misdemeanor criminal damaging, Abbington could get up to little more than eight years and $15,750 in fines.
