CHILLICOTHE, OH – A man was arrested late Monday night after leading Ross County deputies on a brief foot chase following a traffic stop on Blain Highway.

According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Trenton Morgan attempted to pull over a dirt bike rider after observing the vehicle repeatedly crossing the center line. When the deputy activated his lights and siren, the rider—later identified as Jonathan Lewis—continued down the road before finally stopping in a driveway.

Lewis initially provided his Social Security number, which deputies used to confirm he had a suspended driver’s license and an outstanding warrant in Ross County. As Deputy Morgan returned to his patrol vehicle, Lewis attempted to walk away, ignoring orders to remain at the scene.

When questioned about the dirt bike, Lewis claimed he had purchased it for $200 but could not provide proof of ownership, registration, or insurance. As the deputy continued his investigation, Lewis suddenly fled on foot.

Deputy Morgan deployed his Taser, striking Lewis and briefly incapacitating him, but Lewis managed to break the Taser wires and continued running. He jumped a fence and attempted to escape toward a creek behind the house.

After warning that another Taser deployment was imminent, Lewis ultimately stumbled and fell into the creek, where he surrendered, saying, “Okay, you got me.” Deputies placed him in handcuffs and escorted him back to the patrol vehicle.

Lewis was evaluated by Huntington Township EMS for breathing difficulties before being cleared for transport to the Ross County Jail. He faces charges of obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and the outstanding warrant.

The dirt bike was impounded, and the incident was recorded on Deputy Morgan’s body camera.
