Ross County – Search Underway for Possible Drowning Victim in Scioto River

Chillicothe, OH — On October 9, 2024, at approximately 1:30 PM, local authorities were dispatched to the Bridge Street Bridge over the Scioto River in response to a report of a possible drowning. Deputies from the sheriff’s office, along with officers from the Chillicothe Police Department, quickly arrived at the scene.

Witnesses reported observing a male struggling in the river. The individual has been identified as 39-year-old Nathan Moore. In response to the situation, rescue crews from multiple agencies mobilized to conduct a thorough search of the water. Boats and divers have been deployed in the effort to locate Moore.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the sheriff’s office at 740-773-1185. The community is on alert as search operations continue in hopes of locating the missing individual.
