CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office is set to receive a significant boost in their fight against drug-related issues, thanks to a recent grant award from the Office of Criminal Justice Services. As part of the latest round of funding from the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP), Ross County will receive $128,072.10 to support local efforts in addressing substance abuse challenges.

The grant is part of a broader initiative, with nearly $5.5 million distributed across Ohio to enhance community-based programs focused on substance use prevention, intervention, and recovery. The funding aims to support various local agencies in developing and expanding programs to tackle the opioid and stimulant crises affecting their communities.

For Ross County, the grant will provide crucial resources to bolster existing substance use deflection and pre-arrest diversion programs. This funding is expected to help local authorities implement and improve strategies to address the high rates of drug-related issues in the area.

Other notable grant recipients in Ohio include the Franklin County Office of Justice Policy and Programs, which will receive $838,866.10, and the MetroHealth System in Cuyahoga County, awarded $440,229. The funding will support a range of initiatives from community outreach and treatment services to enhanced emergency response and public education efforts.

The COSSUP program continues to play a vital role in combating the opioid epidemic and supporting communities across Ohio by providing essential resources and funding to address substance use challenges.
