Ross County Fairgrounds — The Pioneer Center again has their sensory and calming room at the fair, as well as their “Penny Candy Shop” and information center.

I stopped in at their room in the east end of the big Commercial Building, towards the grandstand, and got a tour from Pam Stewart, SSA Team Leader for the Pioneer Center.

The “Penny Candy Shop.”

She pointed out the Penny Candy Shop whose proceeds go to the Special Olympics. She also showed information on the services the Pioneer Center and Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities provide – and even school yearbooks.

In the back is the “Sensory and Calming Room,” air conditioned and painted black, with textures and objects to sooth anyone who has had a little too much at the bustling fairgrounds.

Hear the tour in her own words in the video below. The Pioneer Center / Ross County Board of DD has a Facebook page and website.
