Chillicothe, OH — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious single-vehicle crash that occurred on US Route 50 in Ross County on the evening of October 7, 2024.
At approximately 8:09 PM, a 2004 Jeep Liberty, driven by a 76-year-old man from South Salem, struck a deer that had entered the roadway. Following the collision, the vehicle veered off the right side of the road, then crossed to the left side, striking a guardrail before overturning and colliding with multiple trees.
The driver sustained serious injuries and was initially transported to Adena Regional Medical Center by Huntington Township EMS. He was later transferred to Grant Medical Center for further treatment.
Emergency responders from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Scioto Township EMS, VA Fire Department, and Huntington Township Fire Department assisted at the scene. US Route 50 was closed for approximately two and a half hours as crews worked to clear the area.
