Severe Weather Threat Looms for Central U.S. on Sunday

March 29, 2025 – A significant outbreak of severe thunderstorms is expected to impact parts of the Central United States on Sunday, March 30, bringing the potential for dangerous weather conditions. According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, the storms will develop in the afternoon and persist into the overnight hours, affecting areas from North Texas to the Mid-Mississippi, Lower Ohio, and Tennessee Valleys.

Severe Storms Expected

Forecasters warn that the system could produce very large hail, exceeding 2.5 inches in diameter, as well as a few strong tornadoes and widespread damaging wind gusts. The highest risk of severe weather is concentrated in the Mid-Mississippi and Lower Ohio Valleys, extending into the Mid-South.

A detailed risk map indicates that the greatest threats for tornadoes, wind gusts over 75 mph, and large hail will be centered over portions of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
