New Holland, OH — Authorities are investigating a theft in progress at a solar farm in Pickaway County, where multiple suspects were caught loading solar panels onto a trailer and several vehicles before fleeing the scene.

On March 16, 2025, Corporal Montgomery of the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 26370 SR 207 in New Holland after dispatch received reports of suspicious activity at the site. Witnesses described three vehicles on the property, including a Ford Excursion, a black Dodge Ram 1500, and a white truck—one of which was pulling a trailer. The suspects, described as masked men, were seen actively removing solar panels from an unsecured storage area.

Before leaving, the suspects’ trailer lost several panels, which fell onto the roadway, blocking traffic. Ohio State Trooper Turner, who had also arrived on the scene, cleared the panels from the road before Corporal Montgomery conducted a search of the property.

Investigators found disturbed gravel where the panels were loaded, but it remains unclear how many panels were stolen beyond the nine that were recovered from the roadway. The site itself, which contains pallets of solar panels, had no forced entry, raising concerns about security measures at the location.26

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
