SOUTH BLOOMFIELD, OH — South Bloomfield Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a theft at the Circle K store located at 5065 S Walnut Street. The arrest follows an investigation into a break-in involving the Ohio Lottery vending machine at the convenience store.

On March 9, 2024, at approximately 5:11 a.m., Officers responded to a report of a theft at the Circle K. Employees informed the officers that someone had forcibly opened the Ohio Lottery vending machine and stolen the cash inside. An Employee who had worked the night shift, had not noticed any signs of theft but mentioned that a regular customer had been in and out of the store several times during her shift.

Upon inspecting the scene, the officers confirmed that the vending machine had been pried open, though the lock remained in place, and the cash box was empty.

The security footage, reviewed later with the assistance of the store manager, showed a white male with a noticeable limp entering the store through the rear entrance at about 4:04 a.m. The suspect was seen heading to the bathroom and then to the lottery machine. After interacting with the vending machine, he purchased a lottery ticket and left the store.

On March 11, 2024, Officers, who reviewed the footage again, identified the suspect as Jeffrey Lee Stanley. The footage matched Stanley’s distinctive limp and confirmed his presence at the time of the theft.

Stanley, who had been scheduled to appear in court for the theft charges, failed to attend his hearing. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest. On July 29, 2024, Stanley was apprehended by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office on this outstanding warrant. He is currently being held at the Pickaway County Jail, on charges of safecracking, theft, and warrant charges.
