Columbus, OH — House Agriculture Chairman Don Jones (R-Freeport) has announced that a new report from the National Drought Mitigation Center reveals severe drought conditions across Southern Ohio. This includes the entire 95th House District and the counties of Belmont, Guernsey, Harrison, Noble, and Washington.
The U.S. Drought Monitor’s latest map shows these areas classified as D3, or “Extreme Drought.” This designation qualifies the affected regions for assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA).
Jones urged residents experiencing difficulties with water resources, livestock, crops, or transportation due to the drought to document their issues and report them to the USDA Ohio FSA. “Producers should reach out to their local USDA FSA County office for support,” Jones said.
A comprehensive list of USDA disaster assistance programs is available for those in need. “There are numerous programs to help producers recover from these challenging conditions,” Jones added. “Please review these resources and share the information with others.”
Jones pledged to keep the public informed and provide additional resources as the situation evolves
