Southern Ohio – A man is being held on a half-million-dollar bond after being caught with a large amount of drugs.

On the evening of October 2, 2023, Wellston Police Department officers performed a traffic stop on a black 2008 Pontiac G6 for an equipment violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers saw illegal narcotics in plain view in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located approximately 107 grams of suspected Fentanyl and 323 grams of suspected Methamphetamine inside of the vehicle, along with a loaded handgun. The driver of the vehicle, Brian Wiseman (age 52) of McArthur, was arrested and after being medically cleared for incarceration at the Holzer Medical Center-Jackson, he was incarcerated at the Jackson County Correctional Facility and charged with one count of Possession of Controlled Substances, a Felony of the First Degree.

Wiseman was arraigned in the Jackson County Municipal Court on October 3, 2023 and is currently being held in the Jackson County Correctional Facility on a $500,000.00 bond.

It was also later discovered that Wiseman had an active Felony warrant for his arrest from the Vinton County Common Pleas Court for Discharging a Firearm at/into a Habitation, stemming from a case in Vinton County from earlier in 2023.

More charges are expected to follow pending lab results from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

The street value of the alleged narcotics involved in this incident is believed to be between $24,000 and $26,000.
