Jackson, Ohio – The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Jackson Patrol Post is currently investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred early this morning at the intersection of US-35 eastbound and SR-32 westbound. The crash resulted in injuries to a trooper from the Jackson Post.
The incident, which took place at approximately 4:08 AM, involved a green 2001 Dodge Ram traveling westbound on SR-32, driven by 57-year-old Aric L. Yates from Wellston, Ohio. Meanwhile, a silver 2021 Dodge Charger, operated by Trooper Joshua D. McCarty of Jackson, was stationary at the intersection of US-35 eastbound and SR-32 westbound, obeying the posted stop sign.
Trooper McCarty was responding to an emergency call at the time of the collision and had activated his emergency lights and siren. However, Mr. Yates lost control of his vehicle, veered off the right side of the roadway, and collided with the patrol car.
As a result of the crash, Trooper McCarty sustained minor injuries and was transported to Holzer ER in Jackson by Jackson County EMS. Fortunately, Mr. Yates did not suffer any injuries in the incident.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash. Assisting troopers at the scene were personnel from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson City Police Department, Jackson County EMS, as well as towing services from Ron’s Towing and Angles Wrecker Service.
