Fayette County, OH – Spectrum has officially launched its high-speed broadband services in Fayette County, bringing gigabit internet, mobile, TV, and voice services to more than 200 homes and small businesses. The expansion is part of Spectrum’s $9 billion Rural Construction Initiative, which aims to improve connectivity across underserved areas.
The initiative, which is partially supported by government grants, will ultimately connect 1.75 million new homes and businesses nationwide. Spectrum’s service in Fayette County is expected to have a transformative impact, offering broadband speeds up to 1 Gbps, as well as mobile and TV services, to residents and businesses that previously lacked access to reliable high-speed internet.
“Spectrum is proud to bring gigabit broadband to unserved communities in Ohio,” said the Area Vice President for Spectrum’s Central Ohio service area. “Our investment in Fayette County is not only about providing faster speeds but also offering our services with competitive pricing and backed by local support from skilled technicians and U.S.-based customer service.”
The expansion project in Fayette County was made possible through a combination of private investment from Spectrum and funding from government programs such as the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) and the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Grant (ORBEG).
Local officials were quick to praise the project. Lt. Governor Jon Husted highlighted the state’s commitment to closing the digital divide, noting that this collaboration between Spectrum, the state, and Fayette County will bring much-needed connectivity to rural areas.
“Broadband expansion like this is crucial for creating new opportunities for education, business, and overall quality of life,” said State Senator Shane Wilkin. “We’re one step closer to ensuring all Ohioans have access to the digital tools they need to succeed.”
In addition to high-speed internet, Spectrum customers in the area now have access to Spectrum Mobile™, the nation’s fastest-growing mobile provider, offering nationwide 5G coverage and competitive pricing. Spectrum TV® offers more than 270 HD channels, plus 85,000 On Demand choices, and customers can stream content through the Spectrum TV App, which is available on a variety of devices.
Local businesses and residents are encouraged to visit Spectrum’s rural expansion website to learn more about when their home or business may be eligible for the new services.
Fayette County officials also expressed their support for the expansion, with Commissioner Tony Anderson emphasizing the county’s commitment to improving access to vital broadband services for both families and businesses.
