
CHILLICOTHE, OH – Authorities recovered a stolen vehicle from the Scioto River on Monday morning after it was discovered submerged near the floodwall off Riverside Street, east of Bridge Street.
Ross County Sheriff George W. Lavender Jr. reported that his office was alerted to the submerged vehicle shortly after 10:00 a.m. Emergency personnel from multiple agencies responded to assist in the recovery, including the V.A. Fire Department, Chillicothe Police Department, Chillicothe Utilities Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Box 65, and the Ross County Engineer’s Office.
Once the vehicle was pulled from the water, authorities confirmed it was unoccupied and had been reported stolen earlier that morning in the City of Chillicothe.
Sheriff Lavender expressed his gratitude to the various agencies that contributed to the vehicle’s recovery. The investigation into the stolen vehicle remains ongoing.
