Ross County – Stolen Vehicle Recovered in High Street Incident, Suspect Arrested for Drug Possession

Chillicothe, OH – On the evening of June 23, 2024, a stolen vehicle was recovered at 443 N High Street, leading to the arrest of Cody Perry on multiple charges.

According to the Chillicothe Police department, the incident began at 10:54 PM when he responded to a report of a stolen vehicle. While on patrol, two officers were dispatched to the address. Officers observed the stolen vehicle, a red Pontiac Vibe, driving past and parking at the specified location.

One Officer blocked the driver’s side door as other officers arrived to conduct a felony stop. The officers removed Cody Perry from the vehicle and read him his Miranda rights. Perry then disclosed that he had methamphetamine in his pocket and a meth pipe on the driver’s side floorboard. He also mentioned that he had rented the car from Joseph Oakes.

The vehicle owner, was contacted at the scene and informed that her car had been recovered. Eitel’s Towing was dispatched to tow the vehicle.

The officer transported Perry to the Ross County Jail, where he was booked on charges of receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. The methamphetamine and paraphernalia were secured as evidence, with a BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigation) report scheduled for the following day due to technical issues.
