Suspect Arrested After Shooting at Drone after Standoff in Lancaster

A tense standoff in Lancaster ended with the arrest of 26-year-old Kyle Mcintyre on August 5, 2024. Mcintyre was charged with multiple counts, including endangering aircraft operations, using weapons while intoxicated, discharging weapons inside city limits, and inducing panic.

The incident began at 7:01 p.m. when police received a call about a suicidal male near King Street and Furry Court. Officers arrived to find Mcintyre armed with a shotgun and pistol. A drone was deployed to assess the situation, but Mcintyre opened fire on the drone multiple times.

After a brief standoff, Mcintyre was taken into custody without further incident. He was treated at Fairfield Medical Center before being transported to the Fairfield County Jail.

The Lancaster Police Department Detective Bureau has taken over the investigation. The incident highlights the increasing use of drones in law enforcement and the potential risks involved.
