CIRCLEVILLE, OH — Jennalyn Pence, a 16-year-old student at Teays Valley High School, is vying for the title of Pumpkin Show Queen. With a strong background in community service and athletics, she aims to represent her school and celebrate the beloved local tradition.

Jennalyn is an active member of Pickaway County 4-H, serving as a camp counselor and participating for a decade. She has also earned recognition in volleyball, being named an Academic All-League recipient for two consecutive years, and has made her mark in track and field. Alongside her athletic achievements, Jennalyn holds a position as Junior Student Council Secretary and is a candidate for the National Honor Society for the upcoming school year.

“I think of the Pumpkin Show as a time for the community to come together and celebrate the hard work of our farmers,” Jennalyn said. Her fondest memories of the event include riding the Ferris Wheel with her mother after performing in parades with the Charmion Performing Arts Center.

When asked about her favorite Pumpkin Show food, she enthusiastically named the warm chicken noodle soup from the Village Chapel’s booth. Jennalyn described the event as a vibrant celebration, with the air filled with the scents of pumpkin and fair food, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a Hallmark movie.

If given the chance to enhance the Pumpkin Show, Jennalyn would introduce a scented candle that captures the essence of pumpkin and fair food, allowing attendees to take a piece of the festival home.

As a candidate for queen, Jennalyn plans to promote the Pumpkin Show by traveling throughout Ohio, sharing its unifying spirit and engaging younger audiences through social media.

“The greatest impact in my life has come from my grandma, Marilyn Pence,” she said, reflecting on the kindness and positivity she learned from her. “I strive to be more like her every day.”

Jennalyn is also proud of her accomplishments on the volleyball court, where she has led her varsity team as captain and set a new school record for most kills in a game. She aspires to continue her volleyball career at the collegiate level, crediting her success to the unwavering support of her family.

With her dedication to her community and passion for service, Jennalyn Pence is set to make a meaningful impact as a contender for Pumpkin Show Queen.
