CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — On June 30, 2024, at approximately 4:17 PM, officers responded to a disturbance at Wendy’s located at 102 N Bridge St. The incident involved a physical assault that left a teenager unconscious.

Upon arrival, the Officer made contact with the 16-year-old’s father, who reported that his son had been attacked and knocked unconscious. The teenager was found on the floor, unresponsive. He eventually regained consciousness but exhibited a “thousand-yard stare” and was not immediately responsive. The Chillicothe Fire Department arrived shortly after to provide medical assistance.

Dad explained that both he and his son work at Wendy’s. The teenager was off duty and at the restaurant to get food. While standing in line, a white male dressed in pink entered the store and began punching the teenager. The assailant, identified later by a reluctant witness, picked up the teenager and slammed him onto the tile floor, causing him to lose consciousness and have a seizure.

Witnesses were uncooperative, and only one manager attempted to assist by contacting the general manager to review video footage. The officer overheard a conversation that led to identifying the suspect and two people who had left the scene. Further investigation revealed that the suspect fled in a silver vehicle with a white female and a black male.

The officer tracked the vehicle to a residence. The suspect, wearing pink, was observed at the residence. The officer made contact and read the suspect a 16 year old teen their Miranda Rights. The suspect admitted to the altercation but did not provide a reason for the ongoing issues with the victim. The suspect was placed in handcuffs and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center on the advice of Magistrate Szorady.

The investigation continues, with follow-up actions including obtaining the victim’s medical records and written statements from the involved parties. The suspect is charged with aggravated assault.
