Waverly, Ohio (February 13, 2024) – A joint operation by multiple law enforcement agencies in Southern Ohio resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of drugs, weapons, and drug paraphernalia.
On Thursday, February 8th, the Southern Ohio Organized and Major Crimes Task Force, along with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Waverly Police Department, and Pike County Prosecutor’s Office, conducted a raid on a residence in Waverly suspected of being involved in drug trafficking.
During the search, authorities found a firearm, digital scales, drug paraphernalia, and other evidence potentially linked to illegal activity. The case remains under investigation with potential further charges being presented to the Pike County Grand Jury.
Three individuals were taken into custody at the scene:
- Travis Dingess (50), of Waverly, Ohio: Charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, Aggravated Possession of Drugs (both felonies of the 2nd degree with a firearm specification), and Having Weapons Under Disability (felony of the 3rd degree).
- Tawana Scott (47), of Waverly, Ohio: Charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, Aggravated Possession of Drugs (both felonies of the 2nd degree with a firearm specification), and Having Weapons Under Disability (felony of the 3rd degree).
- Gary Cavinder (37), of Beaver, Ohio: Arrested on a warrant for failing to appear on charges of Vandalism (felony of the 4th degree), Possessing Criminal Tools (felony of the 5th degree), and Theft (misdemeanor of the 1st degree).
Sheriff Tracy Evans of Pike County commended the collaborative effort, stating, “This operation demonstrates the commitment of our agencies to work together to combat drug trafficking and keep our communities safe.”
Ohio Attorney General David Yost emphasized the importance of such operations, saying, “These arrests send a clear message that we will not tolerate illegal drug activity in Ohio. We will continue to work with our partners to dismantle drug trafficking networks and hold those responsible accountable.”
