
PICKAWAY COUNTY, OH – A devastating head-on collision between a semi-truck and a Ford Mustang on State Route 104 left one driver dead and another hospitalized on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Pickaway County Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey, the Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 911 call at 2:35 PM on March 11, 2025, reporting an explosion following the crash just north of Van Meter Road.
When deputies arrived, they found a Kenworth semi-truck and a black 2020 Ford Mustang involved in the accident. Investigators determined that the Mustang, traveling southbound, had completely crossed left of center, striking the northbound semi-truck head-on.
The driver of the semi-truck, 47-year-old Clarence E. Davis of Blackshear, Georgia, was transported to Mount Carmel Grove City Hospital by Harrison Township EMS. Tragically, the driver of the Mustang, 20-year-old Nathaniel H. Johnston of Circleville, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff Hafey expressed gratitude to Harrison Township Fire and EMS, Pickaway Township Fire and EMS, Scioto Township Fire and EMS, the Circleville Fire Department, the Pickaway County Coroner’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation for their swift response and assistance.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
