JACKSON, Ohio (February 24, 2024) – Three people were confirmed dead following a plane crash at the James A. Rhodes Airport in Jackson County, Ohio, on Saturday afternoon, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Details of the Incident:
- The crash occurred on the afternoon of February 24th at the aforementioned airport located southeast of Jackson.
- The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed the incident, while the National Transportation Safety Board identified the aircraft involved as a Piper PA-32.
- The Sheriff’s Office confirmed three fatalities and no reported injuries among individuals on the ground.
The preliminary investigation showed a Piper PA 32 Cherokee Six crashed into a field, approximately one quarter of a mile north of the James A. Rhodes Airport in Jackson County. The occupants of the Piper have been identified as, left front seat occupant, Daniel T. Baker, 44, Jackson; right front seat occupant, Zebulon D. Logan, 45, Lucasville; and the left rear passenger was Dan Baker, 75, of West Portsmouth. All three occupants suffered fatal injuries.
Investigation and Road Closures:
- Deputies are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
- Barton and Keystone Station roads near the airport remain closed as the investigation continues.
