Two People Flown by Medical Helicopter after Single-Vehicle Crash in Ross County

CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious single-vehicle crash that occurred late Saturday night in Ross County.

Around 11:35 p.m. on April 26, 2025, a 2021 Nissan Kicks, driven by 41-year-old Rene Sommers of Chillicothe, failed to negotiate a curve while traveling southeast on Three Locks Road and collided with a tree.

Sommers was airlifted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus by MedFlight for treatment of her injuries. Two passengers were also injured: 41-year-old Tara Gallaugher, also of Chillicothe, was transported by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center, while 2-year-old Ireland Tucker was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center by Franklin Township EMS.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Ross County Sheriff’s Department, Scioto Township EMS, Franklin Township EMS, Huntington Township EMS, Chillicothe Fire Department, and the Veterans Affairs Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
