HIGHLAND – Two people are dead according to OSP and two children are injured and hospitalized last night in Highland county.
According to Ohio state highway patrol Elmer Everhart, 78, of Chillicothe, Ohio, was traveling his tan 2003 GMC Yukon east on U.S. Route 50 when the vehicle drove off the right side of the road and hit a tree, which caused the vehicle to overturn and become engulfed in flames.
Troopers reported that both Elmer Everhart and his wife Barbara Everhart, age 73, died in the crash. Two children who were riding with the couple in the back seat were taken to the hospital with injuries.
Impairment is not a factor in the crash, the crash is still under investigation.
