Deer Creek and Paint Creek, OH — In response to recent heavy rainfall, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is taking action to manage water levels at Deer Creek and Paint Creek reservoirs. The Corps has announced a reduction of the water levels in both pools as part of a special directive from their Water Management office.
At Deer Creek, the outflow has been increased to 5.8 feet, which is the maximum allowable flow during the winter season. The current lake level will be lowered to 803 feet temporarily. Meanwhile, the Paint Creek Army Corps has received instructions to continue adjusting water levels until they reach 792.50 feet. The outflow is currently set at 2,375 cubic feet per second (cfs) and is expected to increase throughout the evening.
Officials are urging fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts to exercise caution when near the water. “Please be safe when around and on the water and always wear your life jacket,” a spokesperson from the Army Corps stated.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay informed as the situation develops.
