PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A tragic two-vehicle collision on State Route 316 claimed the life of a driver on Friday, September 13, 2024, according to the Circleville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:04 a.m. when a 2018 Hyundai Tucson, driven by Lori J. Evans, was traveling eastbound towards South Bloomfield. Meanwhile, a 2023 Chevy Malibu, driven by Carol A. Vandusen, was heading westbound on the same route.

For reasons still under investigation, Vandusen’s Chevy Malibu veered off the right side of the road before crossing back over and striking Evans’ Hyundai. Emergency responders from Harrison Township Medics transported Vandusen to Mount Carmel Grove City, where she was pronounced dead. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Evans was taken to Grant Hospital by Circleville EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Circleville Post received assistance from multiple agencies, including the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, Harrison Township Fire and EMS, Circleville Fire and EMS, South Bloomfield Police Department, Scioto Township Fire and EMS, Air Evac, and the Ohio Department of Transportation. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
