A serious wrong-way crash on US-23 on November 24, 2024, resulted in four individuals suffering serious injuries and three requiring transport to Columbus hospitals by medical helicopters.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred when a 2003 Toyota Avalon, driven by 72-year-old Deborah Brown, veered off the southbound lanes of US-23 onto the right shoulder. Brown then overcorrected, crossing two lanes of traffic, the median, and entering the northbound lanes while still traveling south. Her vehicle collided at high speeds with a 2024 Honda CR-V and a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, sending two vehicles off the roadway into a field on the eastern side of US-23.

Brown, who was ejected from her vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Grant Medical Center by Air Evac. The driver of the Honda CR-V, 53-year-old Denise Livingston, also sustained injuries and was transported to Berger Hospital.

In the Hyundai Sonata, 23-year-old driver Tomas Bonifacio suffered serious injuries and was taken to Grant Medical Center by ambulance. Two passengers in the Sonata, 31-year-old Davila Fiberto, and an unidentified individual were transported by MedFlight and Air Evac helicopters to Grant Medical Center in serious condition.
