CHILLICOTHE – What started off as stopping to assist a disabled vehicle ended in a chase by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
The chase occurred around 5:15 pm on January 8th, 2020 When a Ohio State Highway Patrol man came across a disabled vehicle on US23. After talking to the driver and passenger and running licenses and information the officer called for backup. When the second officer arrived he asked the passenger to get out, and on the way back to the cruiser he jumps the metal guardrail and flees the officers. One of the officers jumps into the chase, deploys a taser and takes the passenger into custody. Using this as a distraction the driver of the vehicle takes off, and the responding officer is able to give chase.
Police reported during the chase that the suspect threw out “something” during the chase.
The chase heads through Chillicothe areas and finally onto 1861 Charleston Pike where the driver is tased also before being taken into custody.
The two individuals were both charges with Failure to complete with order or signal or flee, possessing drug abuse instruments, resisting arrest.
