More information has come out on a man who was wanted for felonious assault, domestic violence, and aggravated menacing after a violent attack against his estranged wife, including a vehicular attack on SR-41.

A tense situation unfolded in Ross County over the weekend, starting with a structure fire response that escalated into an arrest of a wanted individual. The incident began when Deputy Rush was dispatched to Harris Station Rd on July 13th to investigate a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival, Deputy observed the residence engulfed in flames with no individuals in sight except for a dog on the property. The scene quickly attracted additional responders, including firefighters and Sgt., who coordinated efforts and documented the situation being the home of a wanted individual. The Ross County Dog Warden was also called to handle the animals found on the premises.

Later that evening Deputies were patrolling the area and noticed smoke rising from the remains of the earlier fire. As they approached the property, they heard noises in the fire damaged trailer where Timothy Miller, a resident with active warrants, had barricaded himself. Miller faced charges including felonious assault, domestic violence, and aggravated menacing.

Efforts to peacefully apprehend Miller proved challenging as he refused to cooperate and threatened self-harm with a loaded Winchester rifle to his head. With the situation intensifying, additional law enforcement units, EMS, and the RCSO Emergency Response Team were deployed to safely resolve the standoff.

After tense negotiations, Deputy McGoye deployed a Taser, successfully incapacitating Miller and facilitating his arrest. Miller was found in possession of additional ammunition and taken into custody on his outstanding warrants, as well as charges of obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

The prolonged incident delayed firefighting efforts, preventing immediate access to extinguish the fire and prompting safety precautions due to Miller’s armed status. Once secured, the fire department was able to proceed with extinguishing the blaze.

Following these events, Deputies oversaw the scene as it transitioned into a potential crime scene, ensuring safety protocols were in place until further investigation by the fire marshal could be completed. All involved parties were briefed and cleared from the area.

The incident remains under investigation with ongoing coordination between law enforcement and fire officials to determine the cause of the fire and address related concerns.

Miller who is in custody now is being held without bail, and pending more charges including possible arson.
