Pickaway County – Two people were injured and one person was pepper sprayed during a road rage incident on Sunday
According to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s office, they were called to the intersection of US 22 West and State Route 56 for an injury accident. When they arrived deputies reported one man had been pepper sprayed and was making threats towards others.
During the investigation, it was found that two vehicles became involved in a road rage incident in Mount Sterling involving a 2011 GMC Truck and a 2010 Dodge. That incident continued along US-22 until the intersection of US-56 just outside of Circleville. The incident came to a head when a passenger of the Dodge exited the vehicle and threw something at the GMC at the light in the intersection. The Driver of the GMC got out of the vehicle to check for damage that’s when 20-year-old Derek Weber attempted to flee the scene by pulling into the opposite lane, but during the attempt, he pinned his passenger in between the vehicles causing injuries along with her he also hit the driver of the GMC while striking the truck. Both vehicles suffered significant damage. Derrick then got out of his Dodge and attempted to approach the driver of the GMC with clenched fists that’s when Derrick was pepper sprayed.
Three people were transported to Berger Hospital, two with injuries, Derek was transported due to the pepper spray in his eyes. Derrick was then transported to Pickaway County Jail where he was charged with Aggravated vehicular assault, Disorderly conduct, and reckless operation.
