Pickaway County, OH – An early morning rollover crash involving an IGEL service truck from Columbus, Ohio, led to the closure of SR-104 for several hours today. The incident occurred around 5 am when the utility truck lost control, veering onto the soft shoulder of SR-104 in the area of West Ford Road. The vehicle subsequently overturned and rolled over, causing injuries to the driver who was tossed around inside the cab, but was wearing his seatbelt.
Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) responded swiftly to the scene, deciding to shut down SR-104 between SR-316 and Van Meter Road due to the extensive spread of tools (up to 100 feet away) and debris across the roadway. The crash left a significant cleanup task, prompting the involvement of Scioto Valley Towing, a local towing company.
According to statements from Scioto Valley Towing provided to Sciotopost, crews filled two tow trucks with tools and debris scattered across the crash site. This did not include the heavy utility truck itself, which also required recovery.
The injured driver was transported to Columbus Hospital for treatment, but he his home resting today. The extent of his injuries was not disclosed at this time.
The closure of SR-104 caused disruptions to morning traffic in the area, as authorities worked diligently to clear the roadway and ensure public safety. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation by OSP.
