[Bloom Township, October 15, 2024] — The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office has successfully located Russell Burris, 27, from Stoutsville, Ohio, who was the subject of a recent kidnapping investigation. Sheriff Alex Lape announced that Burris has been taken into custody.
The incident began when a 911 call reported that Burris had allegedly taken off with a 2-month-old child, leaving the child’s mother at a business in Lithopolis, Ohio. The call also mentioned that Burris was accompanied by Rhonda Sprague, 53, and Bernard Turner, 58, both from Columbus, Ohio.
Upon receiving the call, deputies from the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office promptly responded and initiated an investigation. They were able to gather information, including a license plate number, which was crucial for issuing an Amber Alert.
At 5:01 PM, an Amber Alert was activated for the missing child. Thankfully, the child was located safely by the Columbus Police Department at approximately 6:30 PM in the area of 4100 Lachaln Landings Drive, Columbus. The Amber Alert has since been canceled.
The investigation remains active, led by the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau. Sheriff Lape expressed gratitude to all agencies involved in the safe recovery of the child.
