Pickaway County – Two people were injured after a severe crash on US-22 between Circleville and Lancaster.
According to reports the crash occurred around 2:30 pm on Thursday, January 4, 2024, when a blue Subaru that was heading eastbound on 22 attempted to turn left onto Ringgold Southern road and pulled into the path of a grey Super duty Ford pickup truck that was heading westbound on US-22. The driver of the truck said that when they pulled in front of him he barely had time to react hitting the vehicle had high speeds. Both the Subaru and the Truck came to rest on the North side of US-22 and hit a utility box knocking out connectivity to the area.
The driver of the Subaru identified as Troy Newman from Circleville was transported with injuries to Grant Medical by Ambulance, the Passenger Jeff Moody was transported with serious injuries by Medflight to Grant Hospital, and the driver of the Truck only experienced minor injuries.
During the transport of Moody first responders found a 9mm gun on his person, and a baggie of suspected drugs were found inside the car. Moody also had a warrant for his arrest. The owner of the Subaru arrived on the scene and claimed that she had just bought the car a couple of days ago and that no one had permission to drive the vehicle. The vehicle tags were not registered to her.
Pickaway County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the incident
