
CHILLICOTHE, OH — April 22, 2025 — Chillicothe police officers responded to a wide range of incidents throughout the city on Monday, April 21, resulting in arrests, citations, and ongoing investigations.
The day began with a vandalism report at 38 S. Brownell Street just after 7:30 a.m. Officers launched an investigation into suspected criminal mischief.
Shortly after, officers conducted traffic enforcement on East and West Main Street, focusing on speed violations near Paint Street. Further enforcement efforts led to additional traffic stops later in the morning on East Water Street for failure to stop at a sign and East 5th Street for an expired plate.
At 9 a.m., police responded to a theft complaint on East Seventh Street. Another theft was reported shortly after noon at Walmart on River Trace Lane, where Lucus Meddock was identified and charged with shoplifting. Later in the afternoon, officers returned to the same Walmart for two more shoplifting incidents, issuing summonses to those involved.
One of the most serious incidents of the day occurred at 3:38 p.m. on North Plaza Boulevard. Police attempted to stop a man on a bicycle for a traffic offense. The suspect fled but was later apprehended. He now faces multiple charges, including possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, obstruction, and an active warrant.
Later, at 6:33 p.m., police were called to the intersection of West Water Street and North High Street for a non-injury traffic crash, which resulted in a citation being issued.
During evening patrols, officers initiated a traffic stop on a gray Chevy Malibu with dark window tint on West 7th Street. The stop led to a child endangerment and evidence tampering investigation. A separate disorderly conduct incident was also reported on 7th Street, where a warning was issued following a disturbance.
Another disorderly conduct call came in at 8:31 p.m. at Walmart on River Trace Lane, where a fight broke out. That investigation is ongoing.
At 10:32 p.m., police responded to a report of a reckless driver in the Harbor Freight parking lot on North Bridge Street. The driver was cited for open container liquor violations.
Just before midnight, officers were dispatched to Sherman Park for another reported theft. A separate incident on North Paint Street resulted in a warrant arrest to close out the busy 24-hour period.
Police say several cases remain under investigation and are urging residents to report suspicious activity.
