ASHVILLE, August 11, 2024 — An Ashville man crashed his truck into a local auto parts store early Sunday morning, and police didn’t have to look far to investigate the incident. The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. when a red Dodge Ram pickup truck veered off Main Street and collided with the NAPA Auto Parts store at 99 Main Street, directly adjacent to the Ashville Police Department.
According to reports from the Ashville Police Department, the Dodge Ram was traveling westbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed, attempting to overtake another vehicle. The truck lost control and skidded off the roadway, crashing into the NAPA building and causing significant damage to both the structure and its contents.
The incident was captured on the police department’s exterior cameras, which recorded the truck’s erratic movement prior to the crash. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Jacob Davis of Ashville, was found at the scene and was subsequently determined to be under the influence.
Davis has been charged with Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI), with additional charges possibly pending as the investigation continues.
