The Vikings Bowling team won their 5th consecutive Mid-State League Buckeye-Cardinal Division Championship on Saturday at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl. Sam Rodgers, who was named 1st Team All-MSL, led the Vikings with a 567 series.
The Vikings opened the tournament with a 907-team game, and then an 881-team game. After making key adjustments, the Vikings rebounded with a 967-team game in Game 3.
After a slow start in the 3 Baker games, the Vikings erupted for a 233 in Game 3, headed into the Best-of-3 Baker Bracket with Hamilton Township. The Rangers led the field all day, pacing the field by over 300 pins after qualifying.
In Game 1 of the bracket, the Vikings defeated the Rangers 204-157. In Game 2, the Vikings boys were able to pull away and defeat the Rangers 202-179, to win the bracket and secure the championship.
All season long, the team has been under the leadership of Coach Erik Fischer. Coach Fischer has done an outstanding job of getting the boys to play together, and make crucial adjustments. Coach Fischer, who was on the 2012 MSL Championship team, is able to use his playing experience as a tool of wisdom for the team.

The Lady Vikings continued their season of growth on Saturday at the MSL Tournament. After two strong team games to start off the tournament, the Lady Vikings slipped up in Game 3, falling to only a 583 game.
Despite the strong efforts in the Baker Games, the Lady Vikings were unable to overcome the deficit, finishing only 9 pins out of the cut from the Bracket, behind MSL Runner-Up Logan Elm.
The Lady Vikings were led by 1st Team All-MSL player Kenna Barnes. Barnes, who is a Sophomore and team captain, shot a 440 series on the day. Freshman Gretchen Stachler finished 2nd Team All-MSL, shooting a 422 series. Junior Loralai Kinzy and Freshman Vivian Hankins were each Honorable Mention All-MSL with a 367 and 322, respectively, series.
