October 4, 2024 – Residents of the Village of South Bloomfield are being informed of an important transition in local leadership, as Police Chief McCoy prepares to retire on October 11, 2024, after over 27 years of dedicated service to the community.
Chief McCoy has been a pivotal figure in the village, known for his exceptional leadership and commitment to public safety. Under his guidance, the South Bloomfield Police Department has consistently delivered high-quality services, fostering trust and safety within the community.
In anticipation of Chief McCoy’s departure, Village officials have appointed Sergeant Maynard as Interim Police Chief, effective October 11. Having served in the South Bloomfield Police Department since 2019, Sergeant Maynard brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of the community to his new role.
The search for a permanent police chief will commence immediately, with a focus on a transparent and equitable selection process. The village plans to gather input from current police officers and staff to ensure the new leader embodies the values and needs of South Bloomfield.
