The Pickaway County Board of Elections has announced that, with 46 days before election day, 42 UOCAVA (Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act) ballots have been sent to our voters currently overseas or serving in the military. Deputy Director Michele Hobson said, “These voters play an important role in our democratic process, and we are proud to ensure their voices are heard in the upcoming election, which is why they are given more time for their ballots to be delivered and returned.” If you are a voter who is overseas, are active-duty military, or are a family member living with an active-duty military member, there is still time to request a ballot.

The Board of Elections will begin mailing all ballots on October 8th so any voter who gets an application into our office before then will be in the first wave of outgoing ballots. “We currently have 2,600 mail ballot requests in our system, with 500 more to be input. For context, at this time in the 2020 presidential election, we had 5,850 applications in our system,” said Director Nicklas.

With many voters concerned over mail delivery, Director Nicklas reminds voters that “we work closely with our local Postmaster and are confident in their ability to deliver ballots in an expedited manner. Voters can even go to our website to see whether we mailed or received their ballots. That page updates each afternoon and is the fastest way to track a voter ballot as phone calls may take longer during in-office early voting.”

Both the Director and Deputy Director wish to remind voters that if they need to register, or change their address or name, they can stop into their office or go online to www.voteohio.gov before the registration deadline on October 7th, 2024, as they will remain open until 9:00 pm for anyone unable to get there during the day.
