Williamsport, OH — Westfall Schools’ basketball and cheerleading teams joined forces this holiday season to spread cheer and give back to the community by hosting their first annual Stuffed Animal Toss on December 21, 2024. The event took place during the Westfall High School boys’ basketball game against Fisher Catholic, where fans were encouraged to bring new stuffed animals to donate to a great cause.

At halftime, the crowd was invited to toss the stuffed animals onto the court, creating a sea of plush toys for a good cause. All the donations collected during the event were given to A New Leaf Foster Care Services in Pickaway County, which helps children entering foster care. The toys will be distributed to those in need, bringing comfort and joy to children during the holiday season.

Shana Picklesimer, a Westfall parent, expressed her gratitude for the community’s support, saying, “I love seeing our younger generation giving back!” Her enthusiasm echoed the sentiment of many who were excited to be part of this heartwarming effort.

For those who couldn’t attend the game but still wanted to contribute, Westfall Schools made it easy to donate. Community members could email Rebecca Layne at [email protected] to arrange for toy pick-up.

The event not only helped local children in need but also highlighted the spirit of giving during the holiday season, as students, families, and faculty came together to make a difference. The Stuffed Animal Toss is now set to become an annual tradition at Westfall High School, ensuring that this special holiday initiative will continue to grow and help more children each year.
