A group of anglers at Deer Creek Lake’s spillway were caught using unlawful fishing methods, leading to fines and seizures by State Wildlife Officers.

Officers Josh Elster and Brady Stevens responded to a complaint and observed the group snagging various sport fish. With the assistance of Officer John Coffman, they contacted the group and found that some members lacked a valid fishing license.

Summonses were issued for fishing without a license, resulting in fines of $130 each. Additionally, five saugeye and three white bass were seized as evidence.

The enforcement action highlights the importance of adhering to fishing regulations and obtaining proper licenses. State Wildlife Officers continue to monitor and protect Ohio’s waterways to ensure sustainable fishing practices.
