PENNSYVANIA – A supermarket company has tossed out 35,000 dollars worth of hard to find items during a pandemic when a problem person coughed on several isles of food within the grocers store.
Gerrity’s co-owner Joe Fasula said on Facebook that it was, “a very challenging day.” when a person that is “known to be a chronic problem in the community, came in to the store and proceeded to purposely caught in the fresh produce, bakery, meat case and Grocery.
Fasula said that, “there is little doubt that this woman was doing this as a very twisted prank, we do not take chances with health and well-being of our customers.”
The grocery store estimates the loss at 35,000 dollars, and the company is hoping that the insurance company will cover the loss.
“I am absolutely sick to my stomach over the loss of food,” said Fasula, “while it is always a shame when food is wasted, in these times when so many people are worried about the security of our food supply, it is even more disturbing.”
The company said that police were called and the charges were escalated to the District Attorney’s Office where they are actively are pursing many charges.
